Quadrature signal processing used in FFT spectrum analysis and digital quadrature demodulation requires computing the magnitude of the quadrature signal pairs. One-line approximation based on A=aX+bY model is widely used. It is easy and fast. But the computation error is up to about 10%. The paper presents three-line approximation method. The computation error is reduced to less than 1% without increasing the computational complexity.
