A new method to improve variance shadow maps is proposed. In this method
the concept of perspective shadow maps is introduced into the traditional variance shadow maps. By rendering the depth texture in the post-perspective space
high resolution is provided for near objects while low resolution is provided for far objects. The miss-match between pixels and texels caused by the lack of sampling is reduced. Experiments demonstrate that our algorithm reduce the light bleeding and improve the quality of shadows.
