Research on the buoyancy increment of flotation devices for transport aircraft
Flotation devices are essential safety equipment for occupant evacuation during emergency water ditching of transport-category aircraft. Research on the buoyancy increment of flotation devices helps solve the problem of insufficient buoyancy within the specified service life and improve the continuous airworthiness of flotation devices. Taking a certain type of flotation seat cushion designed in accordance with flotation device standards as the research object, this paper analyzes its structure, buoyancy design and service scenarios to identify the key factors affecting buoyancy attenuation. By testing the physical parameters and buoyancy performance of used seat cushions with the same material and proportional construction, the causes of buoyancy attenuation are revealed, the applicable buoyancy increment for this type of flotation device is determined and its suitability is verified. The method for determining buoyancy increment formed by this study can provide a reference for the buoyancy design of other types of flotation devices.
