The effects of momentum and energy transportation caused by circumferential non uniformities of the flow in a multistage axial compressor are studied.A model has been developed to represent the circumferential non uniform stresses and heat flux.A preliminary comparison between experimental results and the model demonstrates that this model is feasible. This study comes to the conclusions that:1.The momentum transport effects of circumferential non uniformities are not distinct
but the energy transport effects of the non uniformities are quite strong and have the same order of magnitude as the turbulent diffusion;2.The relative importances of the turbulent diffusion and the non uniformities depend on compressor configuration
loadings and spanwise positions in the compressor;3.Compared with the effects of their main stream counterparts
the circumferential non uniform stresses can be sometimes neglected
according to the compressor loadings
configuration and the calculation tolerences as well.
