In order to study the dynamic performance of bearing-rotor system supported by bump-type gas foil journal bearing
a test bed was designed for bump-type gas foil journal bearing. A rotor of 0.458kg including turbine was supported by two bump-type gas foil journal bearings and multi-leaf thrust gas foil bearing
and the speed was more than 80000r/min. The experimental results show that bump-type gas foil journal bearings can offer high-speed operation stability after rotor lift-off
and the vibration displacement amplitude at bearing support is less than 20μm. The rotor lift-off speed in start-up procedure is higher than that in shut-down procedure due to asymmetric drive of turbine.
