In order to solve the problem that the influence of compressed fluid in the leakage gap was neglected in previous work and the results compared with the practical test had poor consistency
the transient performance analysis model of finger seal (FS) considering compressed fluid in the leakage gap effect was proposed; and then the calculated results of FS performance were compared with those without having considered the effect of compressed fluid. The results indicate that it's necessary to consider the compressed fluid effect about the performance analysis of FS. The FS leakage rate with consideration of compressed fluid has a maximal increase of 234.7% compared with that neglecting the effect of compressed fluid. The compressed fluid makes the trend of FS leakage rate rise remarkably with the increasing rotor speed. In addition
the FS average contact pressure is decreased by compressed fluid
