In order to select the surrogate fuel with the same physical and chemical properties as RP-3 kerosene
the physical and chemical properties of RP3 kerosene were analyzed. According to the physical and chemical properties of RP3 kerosene
the selection criterions of the RP3 kerosene surrogate fuel (including the molecular mass
hydrogencarbon ratio
cetane number and lower heating value) were determined. Based on the selection criterions
a fivecomponent RP-3 kerosene surrogate fuel comprising ndecane
n-dodecane
iso-cetane
methylcyclohexane and toluene was presented
and the mole fractions of these five components were optimized. Furthermore
the densities and kinematic viscosities of the surrogate fuel and RP3 kerosene were contrastively analyzed at different temperatures. The results show that the molecular mass
hydrogencarbon ratio
cetane number and lower heating value of the surrogate fuel
which comprise 14% ndecane/10% ndodecane/30% isocetane/36% methylcyclohexane/10% toluene (mole fraction)
agree well with the corresponding criterions of RP3 kerosene. At the same time
the variation trends of the densities and kinematic viscosities of the surrogate fuel agree well with the corresponding experimental data of RP3 kerosene at different temperatures.
