Given that the dynamic characteristics of rotor system must be considered during design of squeeze film damper (SFD)
a coupling design method of rotor system and SFD was proposed
and the detailed design process was shown. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation
oil film pressure measurement and vibration reduction experiment were carried out. The results showed that the proposed design method was effective. The amplitude of the two disks on the rotor system decreased by 46% and 39%
respectively
after using SFD. The effects of unbalance
support stiffness
oil supply pressure and oil temperature on the damping effect of SFD were also studied. The results show that the effect of oil supply pressure and oil temperature is not significant compared with that of unbalance and support stiffness. It is important to pay attention to the unbalance and support stiffness when designing SFD.
