Study on Corrosion Resistance and Mechanism of Enhanced IN718 Superalloy by Machine Hammer Penning Technology
IN718 superalloy is one of the most reliable materials under the working conditions of deep-sea submarine oil and gas extraction equipment. However
corrosion failure is the main cause of failure of superalloy parts. Therefore
the development of long-term anti-corrosion and life extension technology on the surface of superalloy has important value. In this paper
mechanical impact on the surface of the part is proposed to achieve long-term corrosion resistance and life extension on the surface of the superalloy. Result shows that Machine Hammer Penning (MHP) significantly improves the anti-corrosion performance of the alloy by decreasing surface roughness and increasing residual compressive stress. However
with the increase of the number of impacts
the anti-corrosion performance of the alloy surface shows an obvious decline trend. The process has high controllability and flexibility
providing a solid theoretical basis for using MHP technology to improve the service life of deep-sea oil and gas extraction equipment.
