Study on Effect Mechanism of Bi-directional Journal Tilt on Characteristics of Water-lubricated Stern Bearings
Water-lubricated stern bearings often have bi-directional tilting of the journal in operation
which greatly affects the bearing characteristics
but the mechanism of the bi-directional tilting of the shaft diameter on the bearing characteristics and the characteristics changelaw of the bearing under the working conditions are not clear. In order to solve the above problems
a mathematical and physical model of water-lubricated stern bearing hybrid elastomeric lubrication considering the lubrication interface roughness
micro-convex body contact
liner elastic deformation and bi-directional coupling tilt of the journal is established. The variation of bearing characteristics with horizontal tilt angle
rotational speed and load when the journal is tilted in bi-directions is studied and compared with the results of the bearing characteristics when only one-way vertical journal tilt is considered. The results show that: high speed or heavy load conditions
two-way journal tilt have the significant impacton the bearing characteristics; The same two-way journal tilt angle
the speed increases to a certain extent can increase the minimum water film thickness and reduce the maximum contact pressure to improve the lubrication state.
