Degreasing Process of Paraffin Binder/316L Stainless Steel Powder Forming Blank for FDM Metal 3D Printing
In order to improve the safety and durability of paraffin adhesives in the solvent degreasing
the 316L stainless steel powder FDM(Fused deposition modeling) was degreased by using the catalytic degreasing and hot degreasing process. The influences of the catalytic process parameters such as degreasing temperature
catalyst flow rate and degreasing time on the degreasing rate of forming billet were studied. Through differential scanning calorimetry-thermogravimetric analysis
a reasonable thermal degreasing process was developed. The results show that at a degreasing temperature of 130 ℃
catalyst flow rate of 0.04 g/min and catalytic degreasing time of 4 h
the degreasing rate of the most formed billet is 70% - 75%
more than 93% paraffin is removed
and the catalytic degreasing time is reduced by 42% comparing with that in the solvent degreasing. The larger the thickness of the forming billet
the longer the degreasing time
and the thickness of the forming billet should be controlled below 6.5 mm. The SEM results showed that a large number of interconnecting gaps were formed after degreasing. At a thermal degreasing temperature of 600 ℃ and catalytic degreasing time of 60 min
the most of the adhesive has been removed and the forming blank has no deformation and collapse.
