the power consumption in 5G network is about three times more than 4G. High electricity charges cost a huge challenge to the operators. This paper will illustrate the latest progress of key techniques research and development on 5G energy saving from equipment
site and network. Energy saving on equipment mainly include the adoption of new material
craft
technology to reduce energy consumption. Energy saving on site focus on new technology such as sub-frame cutoff
channel cutoff
deep dormancy
etc. Key techniques of network level include collaborative 4G and 5G power off and C-RAN
etc. At last
this paper provides some key suggestion and expectation of the 5G radio network energy saving.
