So many artificial factors existing in traditional bamboo processing，this paper can obtain bamboo’s parameter data quickly and accurately by means of information using image processing technology． In order to ana-lyze and process bamboo’s cross-sectional images，using a new edge extraction algorithm combined Sobel operatorand ant colony algorithm which can extract the inner and outer cross-sectional contour plot of bamboo from the origi-nal image． The extracted edge contour map is continuous and uniform thickness，and contains a lot of bamboo infor-mation． This paper can extract accurate perimeter and area of parameter data from bamboo processing．
