Morphology visualization is one of the key technologies for constructing virtual plants. By applying the system analysis principle and mathematical modeling technique to the morphogenesis
the model for simulating root morphogenesis development of tobacco was developed through the quantitative analysis of the experimental data and integrating the existed theory and knowledge. The model includes root growth and root branching submodel. The root growth submodel can quantitatively describe vertical and horizontal extension rate and growth direction. The root branching submodel can describe branching direction
branching location and number of branches. Based on the model and computer graphics technology
the virtual growth system for tobacco root was constructed. The operational results of the system show that the system can primarily realize the visual description of growth process of tobacco root.
