This paper starts from the concept of realtime information and the concept of real-time information system.Subsequently

we discuss how to evaluate the value of real-time information and the performance of realtime information system.Then

given two real-time information systems used in practice example:real-time traffic system and micro-blog system

we discuss the challenges in the design and the deployment of the real-time information system.Based on these discussions

we propose our methods to improve the performance of real-time information system.Then we implement these methods in the design of INFOCOM LIVE.This system has been used in the conference venue of IEEE INFOCOM 2011(The 30th IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications)

which is the top-level academic conference of communication and network research in the world.
