Laser barcode scanner is a common one-dimensional barcode reader

and its performance is mainly affected by the accuracy of peak detection of barcode signal.To obtain a better result of peak detection

this article offers an improved dynamic dual threshold algorithm which can be easily implemented in software.The algorithm is simulated in MATLAB and tested on the self-developed laser barcode scanner.The results indicate a more precise threshold for peak detection can be obtained from less calculation with the improved algorithm

which greatly improve the reading and recognition capabilities of the laser barcode scanner.
