In this paper we discuss the FDD-WCDMA standard from many aspects

such as the radio link budget

the transmission power of the mobile station

the maximum cell capacity and so on.The main purpose of 3G mobile network is to support wireless Internet service.As the FDD-WCDMA standard only adopting the method of cdma

which would have almost equal cell capacities on uplink and downlink

it will cause the waste of the uplink bandwidth and the increase of system cost.It’s unreasonable for ITU to choose the waveband of 2GHz for the mobile telecommunication and then distribute the FDD part to the downlink and uplink channels symmetrically.
