The response of special cross section rubber seal ring during squeeze and pressurization was studied by non-liner finite element method.A finite element model had been built to approximate the response of an axisymmetric special cross section rubber seal ring in a rectangular joint groove. The deformation and stress distribution during squeeze and pressurization were studied based on the large displacement
incompressible ginite element model with two terms Moone-Rivilin in the strain energy function.Meanwhile
the simulated results were compared with those of general O-ring in the same case. The model is proved to be able to predict the characteristic parameters of deformation and stress of special shape seal rings during pressurization.Deeper understanding of the seal performance is obtained
and it is useful for further designing of this type of sealing structure.
