This paper presents the test procedure to identify whether an unknown fiber sample satisfies characteristics of the dispersion unshifted singlemode optical fiber.Since there exist multiple of classifications of fibers

systematically tests are required to accomplish the identification. Firstly it should be determined whether the unknown sample belongs to single-mode optical fiber used in telecommunications

then more tests should be done to distinguish the dispersion unshifted single-mode optical fiber and others.Tests of geometric parameters

dispersion

macrobending loss and many other parameters may be involved during the procedure

appropriate test method is also suggested in the paper.
