In order to solve the strength problem of carbon fiber laminate joint
the finite element model for three bolts double lap joint of carbon fiber laminate is established
and the progressive damage of the joint in the tension are analyzed in terms of the Hashin criterion. The analysis results show that in the tension
the laminate damage occurs firstly at the first bolt
and as the damage worsens
the blot load is redistributed. Finally
the laminate breaks at the first bolt
and the other two bolts suffer from local extrusion damage. Based on the finite element model
the distribution of bolt load in the connection between the various metal plates and the carbon fiber laminates
and the impact of spacing among bolts in the joint on the distribution of bolt load are analyzed. The blot load becomes more unequal as the rigidity of the linked metal plate increases. When the spacing among bolts is increased
the blot load becomes more unequal. The findings in the study may be used to improve the extrusion strength design of a composite multi-blot joint.
