李聪聪, 唐本亭, 鲁江华, et al. Feasibility assessment of liquid cooling system deployment for edge data center nodes[J]. 2021, 34(9): 84-88+92. DOI: 10.13992/j.cnki.tetas.2021.09.015.
low-latency and high-density deployment of 5 G applications further increases the demand for computing power
which brings huge challenges to existing cloud computing data centers. In the future
cloud computing data centers will differentiate from hyperscale data centers into edge data centers. In order to solve heat dissipation problem caused by the sharp rise in the power consumption of the processor chip and effectively improve the power usage effectiveness of edge data center
the existing communication room will be transformed and a submerged liquid-cooling system will be introduced. By evaluating the power usage effectiveness and total cost of ownership of the submerged liquid-cooling server system
the article verifies that the introduction of liquid cooling technology in the edge data center nodes with a single cabinet load exceeding 7 k W can recover the cost of transformation within two years
with improving service carrying capacity of the data center. The submerged liquid cooling system will become a weapon for reducing costs and increasing effi ciency of edge data centers in the future.
